Bas van Vlijmen (The Netherlands, 1963) was raised in his fathers studio, sculptor Joos van Vlijmen. There he learned crafts like drawing, wood and metal work. He worked with audio-visual production company De Beeldenstorm (1983-1985) and computer animation company Electro GIG (1985-1990). This is where he became acquainted with graphic design, video, animation and programming. Realizing the endless possibilities of software he was inspired to fully explore its malleability and significance. (PhD thesis, 1998). Since 1998 he has put on regular exhibitions of both free work and commissions.
